LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. — Luzy Serrano has been a teacher for 39 years. She started her teaching career in Puerto Rico. She’s always taught younger children, preparing them for kindergarten.

“I love the kids,” Serrano said. “That’s my family. This is my family. I come here every morning. I work with them. I love what I do.”
Serrano teaches VPK at Creative World School-Oakstead in Land O’ Lakes. She says she can’t imagine doing anything else.
“People say ‘how can you do it?'” Serrano said. “It’s easy just have fun with them and day by day is different. You never get bored.”
She teaches in the classroom year round. She teaches the kids every subject to get them ready for kindergarten.
