Grace’s Food Pantry in New Port Richey been working alongside Christo’s Restaurant in Trinity to bring restaurant-style meals to members of the community who are hungry but don’t necessarily want to ask for help.

Each weekday, Christo’s Restaurant prepares 200 dinners that Edward Sepulveda and his mother distribute around the New Port Richey area. The effort is funded partially by the United Way.

Sepulveda said veterans, seniors, and working families have been hit the hardest in recent months and some are going without consistent meals.

“I’ve learned a lot about the community with regard to how much they appreciate being appreciated,” Sepulveda said. “So many people have the need and sometimes don’t want to speak up.”

Each afternoon after picking up the hot meals from the restaurant, Sepulveda and his mother deliver them to those in need at the Landings of St. Andrews.

“Our seniors are needing it tremendously. Its hard for them to just get a meal in the house, to be able to go out, they’re afraid to go out to the stores to buy anything,” he said.

The pantry also makes house calls to a number of families in the area who don’t have a hot dinner that night. They deliver the remainder of the meals to the homeless around US-19.

They began this partnership on December 1 and plan to continue through the end of the year.

“We love our community, we love our people that live here and we don’t want to see anyone unnecessarily without a good, hot meal,” Sepulveda said.
